Red Lanterns are experts at magic that entertains and occupies the mind. Their rituals include illusions and some body alteration magic, mixed with some mind control.  It is very flexible in its application and many use it for some pretty shady services.  This means the guild which has one of the largest memberships tends to not get the respect it might otherwise, and is often looked as "lower class" if not outright illegal.  Chapter houses are often watched by the police.
