Description:
Merfolk are humanoids with fishtails. who were created by the gods at the request of the Chelone.
The Chelone asked for help in fighting the Fishmen and needed someone who could also use weapons and more complicated spells to combat them. They were created with the ability to switch between tails and legs so that they could go on land and learned much from the Elves.
They typically wear no clothing in the water as the tails appear from the waist, and clothing can hamper both movement and stealth. On land they wear loose fitting clothing, skirts (male and female) and if trying to blend in with humans loose scarves to hide the gills. These scarves are dampened in dryer weather or climates.
Role: Merfolk are physically the least powerful of the River people but the ability to use tools and weapons or even wear armor, and go on land give them a valuable role in society. Magery is very common, though not possessed by everyone and they can be encountered all across the human lands.
