However there are certain enemies that are considered threats to everyone...
Corruptors
These are spirits that try to corrupt and injure living beings. Some do this by possessing and taking over the living to cause disruption, others merely influence. The weaker ones may cause diseases and weaken thier hosts, more powerful ones can transform hosts into horrific creatures or insane individuals (often with extraordinary powers) to cause disruption. They then feast on the fear and despair of survivors.

Elseworlders
Beings from other worlds, physical or spiritual often visit the Chalice World. Some are summoned and others arrive under their own power. Most are not true adversaries and are just suiting individual needs. However some are very much a threat to civilization so they are mentioned here.
Examples: Demons
Jotun
Jotun are beings of chaos that come across the Barrier Mountains. Most are hunted down and destroyed by the Dwarven Federation but some may exist in the mountains for extended periods of time, especially if they appear nonthreatening. A few make it out of the mountains.
When first entering the world they are essentially spirits of chaos but they cant survive long in that form and must adopt a physical form quickly. The form is generally based on the first thing they see that interests them.
Jotun are generally vulnerable to Sigil magic

Outsiders
Things from outside reality itself whose goal is to destroy the world and reality. At least that's the consensus. They are very dangerous, but thankfully rare. Most are encountered in or near the Blasted Lands and they are known to be attracted to Gates and uses of Teleport spells. Spirit Gates and other forms of spirit travel do not seem to present that danger.
Outsiders erode reality and can destroy whatever they touch, though there are hybrids with physical bodies that can be harmed normally. Elder Things are a subclass of Outsiders.
Fighting the Good Fight
The dwarves have learned special sigils that help stabilize reality and these are harmful to both jotun and outsiders.
Fae have a deep connection to reality and this can allow them to harm both jotun and outsiders, however it also makes them extremely vulnerable so they prefer to avoid direct conflict.
Elemental magics can do normal damage to outsiders, so mages and dragons can hurt them. Most of the time.
Shamans, mystics, priests, and even some mages are effective against corruptors.
