Description: The Dwarves are the dominant culture and have a government based on wealth and ancestral lines. This modified Plutocracy is a driving force among the dwarven kind as each dwarfs duty is to honor his ancestors and  build the families wealth and  status for the next generation. Dwarves tend to be very conservative and aqusitive and very conscious of status.  The need to raise the status of themselves and benefit their family will push young dwarves  in search of wealth and honor. Dwarves use magic in some of the most industrious and community minded ways.  Spirit magic is based on family and national Ancestors and they also use Language magic in several forms. The level of technology is roughly steam power with magical enhancements. Because they store the dead in vast crypts and treat them with honor they are among the greatest enemies of the “People of the Dead”.

Description

Dwarves are a hardy people, short with thick builds they are very strong for their size

Culture

Dwarves pride themselves on their abilities and status is largely determined by ones skills and ones clan. This devotion to serious hard work leaves little time or desire for humor and many consider them kind of stodgy. However, they admire and respect quality art and will embellish all but their most basic creations. Each dwarf tithes 10% to the clan and hopes to die famous so they can be an honored ancestor. A clans status is determined by the history of its ancestors, its size, and what success it has in the moment.
A dwarfs status is determined by the goods he produces, money he has, and his heroic deeds.
More details on society can be found on the Dwarven Federation page.

Combat

Dwarves often fight in formation using shield walls to hold back dangerous and sometimes quite large foes, while rear ranks attack with spears and slings. However they can be seen above ground fighting in the mountain passes as well. The society is the most organized and militant of all the civilized races as they constantly struggle to protect the Chalice World from invaders coming over or through the Barrier Mountains.
This has led to the training of several elite units and martial styles.
